# Connect MetaTrader 5

MetaTrader 5 support is coming, through a commercial bridge. It is not connectable yet.

MetaTrader 5 is the platform most forex and futures prop firms use. Supporting it lets you scale one strategy across firms beyond crypto. TradeSurge will connect MT5 accounts through a commercial bridge.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Coming soon.** MetaTrader 5 is not connectable yet. The app shows it as "Coming soon" until it is.
{% endhint %}

## How it will connect

MT5 accounts use login credentials rather than an API key. TradeSurge will pass them through a rented bridge that places orders on your behalf.

| Name                  | What it means                                                            |
| --------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Master password** | Can trade. This is the credential TradeSurge will need. |
| **Investor password** | Read-only. It cannot place trades, so TradeSurge cannot execute with it. |

## What you will need

* An MT5 account at a supported prop firm.
* The account's login, server and master password.
* A firm whose rules allow the kind of execution you plan to use.

## Good to know

* Whether stops rest on the MT5 server is still being confirmed per bridge.
* Your MT5 accounts will use the same Rules & Limits, risk dial and Breach Guard as your Bybit accounts.
* Check the firm's policy before copying trades there. See [Copying across prop firms](/platform/terminal/copy-across-firms.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.tradesurge.co/platform/accounts/connect-mt5.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
